About Maya
Maya

My path began with the healing and opening of my heart. Under the apprenticeship of a teacher, I initiated with Shamanic medicine tools, opening my channel with visionary journey and drumming, rattle and song, listening deeply and playing with the masks of awareness.

Wearing the "mask" of a shaman and using medicine tools means holding a sacred focus that creates an elemental bridge for another to journey between the realms, to connect with our Spirit Guides, aspects of the Higher Self, Angelic helpers, and Ascended Masters.

Over the past ten years I have expanded my practice to include light-touch energy healing, crystals, and my current passion, aromatic therapies, working with the plant spirit medicines in essential oils, with a focus on healing the Spirit.

My work and life has been enriched by many -- teachers both here and in the Spirit world, friends, family, and clients -- and by vision quests to sacred lands: Bimini, the Yucatan, the Canyonlands of the Southwest, Teotihuacan, Machu Picchu, and most recently Cozumel, the living temple of Mayan Goddess, Ixchel, where I led my first sacred journey in June 2005. I have studied Reiki, aromatherapy, and earned a Masters Degree in Counseling. My lifelong passion for writing and poetry continues to find new forms: in June 2006, I published My Father's Window, prose, poetry and photographs of witness, with Rain Mountain Press, NYC. After growing up along the Hudson River, and residing in New York City for 20 years, I now make home in Pennsylvania, near the upper Delaware River.
